whyohwhys asked: How do you deal with all the crazy pro-lifers that message you? I'm pretty sure you've facepalmed at some you received, right? I just wish they'd get their head out of their asses, and look passed the fetus fetish. :l
I don’t get half as many angry messages as what others get. I used to be pro-life (ages ago), so I understand where their arguments are coming from, but most of those arguments - I personally feel - are steeped in initial emotional reaction trying to justify itself. It’s hard to critically examine your own stance when you realize it’s mostly made up of emotional reaction and a deeply seeded human instinct to preserve anything baby-shaped.
Some of them will change their stance, some won’t. I just try to present the arguments they need to read and critically think about.
Of course, sometimes I get snarky, but I’m only human in that aspect. :P
Anonymous asked: (Unfortunate cissexist language from study stats) if about 70% of readers are women and 30% are men, why are most books written as if they were written for men?
When I was in third grade, I had to do a book report on a less-than-known author. I don’t remember what her name was anymore, but I remember there was something she said about why most/all of her main characters were boys: both boys and girls could relate to boy protagonists, whereas female protagonists were harder for boys to relate to.
I was confused why that was, in third grade, but eventually accepted it under my own internalized sexism. It’s funny how something like that can stick with you and, since being a writer was my dream, it affected what I wrote, too.
Say you happened to knock up a person. They don’t want to be pregnant and are thinking about abortion, but you don’t want them to get one. There is a solution: through massive technological advances, they are able to transfer the pregnancy to you so you could carry it to term: Would you carry it?
if a whole nation can delude themselves into believing that abortion is right, God help us all.
If he planned everything and knew everything from the start, wouldn’t he have put in a “safety catch” to make abortion impossible to get?
Why do I even bother explaining myself to these people it’s s frikin’ opinion. Don’t even comment on it if your gonna get all wound up
If you’re pro-life, and you support making abortion illegal, your opinion is destructive. People will get passionate when their rights are being threatened.
Either way, if you didn’t want people calling you out, you shouldn’t have tagged it under “abortion.” Just saying. Don’t get mad when confronted when you brought it to the attention of both sides of the debate.
Alright, now that I’ve gone through my stat counter, pretty sure that anon I got was babydontabort.
I don’t care if someone wants to be on anon; that’s fine. But if you’re going to try to stroke your own ego and try to use ad hominem against me, on top of dropping your “respectful” demeanor, I’m calling you out.
Still no period. calling to make an appointment but if I am I might as well just kill my self because I can’t afford an abortion.
No, don’t say that. There’s tons of ways you can get money and Planned Parenthood will work with you to get you a lower rate, if needed.
If you need more help, there’s Abortion Funds and you could also start a FundMe to help you get some donations. There are tons of people on tumblr happy to help out!
